Dave was a photographer in the Navy and still is an excellent photographer. In 1963, we moved across country courtesy of the U. Navy to Patuxent River, MD, south of Washington, D. In 1965, we returned to San Diego for the remainder of Daves time in the Navy. An interesting thing happened while we were in Los Angeles. When we were all packed up to leave Los Angeles, the Watts riots started and we were drawn into the area where nothing was moving and armed police were all over the place.
After graduation, I moved to California for several years, worked and attended college part time, drafted in army for 2 years, discharged in 1965, then back to California until '96 and moved back to Mobile. I started going to ranches in Wyoming and Montana in 1995 and have been going every year since. Shirley also served 3 years in the Air Force with the 3rd weather squadron at Offutt AFB, Nebraska. We were finally able to get a moving company to come into the area, pack us out, and take our household goods to San Diego. We lived in Chula Vista, south of San Diego, until 1967 when we moved into our home south of Chula Vista in the city of San Diego. I went to work for the Navy and spent many years working for them. Our son has since retired and they plan on remaining in Montana. They have spent time in Europe, England, and Okinawa, collectively. Our daughter was stationed near Ramstein AFB for several years and we have ties there, also. My last five years with the Navy was working in the International Training Office at Fleet Training Center, Naval Station, San Diego.Lumber, furniture, and brick industries have enhanced the financial acumen of our area.
Local merchants, restaurants, and banks have contributed to the commercial success of our community.
After leaving college, I got into the Electrical Workers Union in Mobile and worked as an Industrial Electrician until retiring January 2002.
I married Janice Miller from Millry, Alabama in 1964. After high school, I spent a year at Auburn University and I worked at Brookley Field for a year.
We developed a love of travel when our son was stationed in Berlin in the early 80s and visited more than once. We had international military students from all over the world attending the Navy schoolhouses. I loved my job but it was interfering with my personal life so I retired.
My husband and I joined the Order of the Eastern Star in 1975 and are actively engaged in enjoying all the lovely people worldwide that we meet.
I have added each classmate for whom I have an email address (more needed).
